India, Israel Reaffirm Zero Tolerance For Terror At Key Meet; Condemn Pahalgam, Oct 7 Attacks

India and Israel on Tuesday reaffirmed their shared commitment to zero tolerance for terrorism at the 10th meeting of the India-Israel Joint Working Group (JWG) on Counter Terrorism held in New Delhi. Both sides strongly condemned the April 22, 2025 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, as well as the October 7, 2023 attacks in Israel.

The meeting was led by Dr Vinod Bahade, Joint Secretary (Counter Terrorism) in the Ministry of External Affairs, and Nadav Eschar, Head of Bureau, Strategic Affairs Division in Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

According to the MEA, the two countries “unequivocally and strongly condemned terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, including cross-border terrorism" and stressed the urgent need to hold perpetrators accountable.

The discussions reflected the depth of the India-Israel Strategic Partnership, with both sides emphasising that confronting terrorism requires sustained and comprehensive action.

“Against this backdrop, the two sides renewed their commitment to strengthening multilateral cooperation in the field of countering terrorism including in the UN, the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) and other multilateral platforms," the ministry stated.

The delegations reviewed a wide range of traditional and emerging threats, including terrorist recruitment, misuse of technology, terror financing and the growing use of drones, unmanned aerial vehicles and artificial intelligence for terrorist activities.

Both sides discussed enhancing cooperation through training, cybersecurity coordination, exchange of best practices and improved information sharing. Law enforcement and judicial cooperation, including mutual legal assistance, also featured in the talks.

The release comes as Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to begin a two-day visit to Israel on Wednesday to strengthen bilateral defence and trade cooperation.
