US Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed on Tuesday that a drone struck near the US consulate in Dubai, saying all American personnel were accounted for.
The confirmation came after a government statement said a drone attack caused a fire near the US diplomatic mission. “Dubai authorities have confirmed that a fire resulting from a drone-related incident near the US Consulate has been successfully contained," the Dubai Media Office posted on X.

Nearby residents told news agency AFP they heard a loud explosion, with one person saying she saw flames near the consulate shortly after. Streets around the area were cordoned off as police in plain clothes moved onlookers away from the site.
Emergency teams responded immediately and no injuries were reported.
Dubai and other Gulf cities have been under bombardment since Saturday, following escalating US-Israeli strikes on Iran and subsequent retaliatory attacks.

The incident in Dubai came hours after two drones sparked a small fire at the US embassy in Riyadh early Tuesday, according to the Saudi defence ministry. On Monday, the US embassy in Kuwait City was also struck by drones.

Videos purportedly showing the moment of impact and smoke rising near the consulate have gone viral on social media. However, News18 has not independently verified the footage.
Earlier in the day, loud jet sounds were heard over Dubai, adding to heightened tensions in the West Asian commercial hub.
