A modest festive hamper or restaurant voucher won’t do for this Chinese company, which took the year-end bonus for employees to another level.
In an act, which garnered international attention for its eccentricity and, well, generosity, the founder of a Chinese company transformed their recent financial success into a high-stakes scramble for riches. Cui Peijun, the founder of Henan Kuangshan Crane Co. invited his workforce to take part in a cash dash worth USD 26 million (Rs 236 crore).

According to a report published by the South China Morning Post, the event, which has gone viral and inspired much envy among netizens, witnessed the distribution of over USD 26 million in cold, hard cash.
BONUSES REPRESENT 70% OF FIRM’S ANNUAL PROFIT
The event, held to celebrate the company’s success, featured 800 banquet tables to accommodate approximately 7,000 employees.
The firm distributed 180 million yuan (approximately Rs 236 crore) in year-end bonuses, a staggering sum representing nearly 70 percent of its total annual profit of 270 million yuan (Rs 357 crore).
The SCMP reported that the highlight were interactive challenges where employees were invited onto the stage to take part in a timed money-counting exercise. Under the rules of the game, they were permitted to keep every note they could manually count within a specific timeframe.
Videos circulating online show workers frantically sorting through vast piles of currency spread across long tables, with some struggling to carry the heavy bundles of notes they secured.

The report said during the event, Cui demonstrated his spontaneous generosity by demanding that the finance department increase the rewards.
“Why are we giving out washing machines?" he was quoted in the report, before ordering that physical gifts be replaced with more currency. “Bring up the cash and give everyone another 20,000 yuan (Rs 2.54 lakh)."
‘YOUNG PEOPLE BURDENED WITH LOANS’
The internet dubbed him as “the boss who loves giving out money the most" but he said his motivations are rooted in a pragmatic understanding of the modern cost of living.
“It is not that I love giving out money," he was quoted, “it is that young people are burdened with car loans and mortgages and any relief we can offer helps."
His eccentric but generous approach to corporate leadership has sparked widespread admiration across social media platforms. One internet user said such treatment of staff is “more effective than advertising", adding that employees “will work harder, with quality guaranteed".
The report further said the Henan Kuangshan Crane Co. was founded in September 2002 and has grown into a major manufacturer of material handling products with operations in more than 130 countries. Cui, who holds nearly 99 percent of the company’s shares, has established a consistent pattern of such gestures.
Last year, it said, the firm distributed 170 million yuan (Rs 225 crore) to staff, and also provided nearly 1.6 million yuan (Rs 2.1 crore) in bonuses to 2,000 female employees to mark International Women’s Day.
