US President Donald Trump said he would refer to the country’s top court in lowercase, calling it a “complete lack of respect" following a ruling against his trade policy.

Writing on Truth Social on Monday, Trump said, “The supreme court (will be using lower case letters for a while based on a complete lack of respect!) of the United States accidentally and unwittingly gave me, as President of the United States, far more powers and strength than I had prior to their ridiculous, dumb, and very internationally divisive ruling."

In his post, Trump called the court’s decision as “incompetent" but said it gave him broader powers to act against foreign nations. “Our incompetent supreme court did a great job for the wrong people, and for that they should be ashamed of themselves (but not the Great Three!)."

The American leader also warned that the court could make further controversial rulings in the future, including on matters involving China and birthright citizenship.

“How much better can you do than that? But this supreme court will find a way to come to the wrong conclusion, one that again will make China, and various other Nations, happy and rich," he remarked.

“Let our supreme court keep making decisions that are so bad and deleterious to the future of our Nation – I have a job to do. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!" Trump concluded his post.

The Supreme Court struck down a large part of Trump’s tariffs, ruling on Friday that he did not have the authority under a 1977 law to impose sudden levies on individual countries.

In response, Trump vowed to impose a 10 per cent global tariff under a different legal authority, raising it to 15 per cent on Saturday.
