AFP reported that jets were heard over Kabul and Kandahar, with journalists on the ground hearing multiple loud explosions followed by gunfire. Afghan Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid confirmed the Pakistani strikes. He added there were no casualties.
Afghanistan stated its military launched an attack across the border into Pakistan late on Thursday in retaliation for deadly Pakistani airstrikes on Afghan border areas Sunday.
They claimed to have had captured more than a dozen Pakistani Army posts during the attack.
